Kaname’s first excursion into the RKS Simulator was a pixelated shimmer as the world loaded into place. Zev and Kaname materialized inside a stone structure, a ruin by the looks of it. A long tunnel that faded into darkness beckoned them forward as the radio on Kaname’s belt began to emit a cacophony of strange noises. Behind the pair was an exit, close enough to reach if they moved with purpose but far enough away to feel like an eternity.[break][break]

The darkness continues to beckon them into its tenebrous embrace, and for a moment… Kaname considers it; he considers being swallowed by the dark laid out before them. It is the little voice in the back of his head, a voice that cries for him to live. “We should leave… There's something about this that makes me want to plunge headfirst down that dark tunnel, and I don’t think it’s normal. Not only that… the radio is going crazy.” Kaname gives Zev a serious look, hoping the man will agree with him. They did not need to meet whatever was lying in wait at the end of that tunnel.[break][break]

Zev had never visited the Ruins of Alph. He gazed around the interior of the ruins, his body tense with apprehension. A screeching static filled the air — from the radio in Kaname's hands and the cell phone Zev carried in his pocket.[break][break]

He turned blue eyes to the tunnel that seemed to beckon them into its dark depth.[break][break]

"I agree," the Beast said. "I don't like whatever this simulation is trying to do."[break][break]

Standing his ground, he waited, watching the tunnel for whatever came next.[break][break]

[attr="class","itemcoltext"]You attempt to pull away from the endless pool of darkness. The absolute dark is exceptionally horrifying and as you scramble to escape, the floor crumbles beneath you.[break][break]

Everyone falls through and lands in a decrepit underground hall. The walls feature engravings of what appear to be Unown. One wall spells out a message through the Symbol Pokemon's depicted bodies: the more there is, the less you see.[break][break]

It was Kaname who made the first move toward the exit, a doorway at the end of what seemed to be an ever-stretching hallway in the stone complex. Kaname took only a few steps before the floor under them began to shift and crumble away, dropping the pair into a different kind of darkness.[break][break]

The scientist groaned softly, his back aching from the impact of hitting the stone floor below. "Are you okay?" Kaname asked, fumbling for the small flashlight he'd clipped to his belt before entering the simulation. "Got it..." the scientist muttered, igniting the small light and shining it around the hallway.[break][break]

Kaname shakily pulled himself to his feet and swung the light around, engravings of Unown lined the walls of the hallway. Ever curious, Kaname stepped forward to examine the engravings, running his hand over them as he read the passage on one of the walls. "'The more there is, the less you see'. What do you make of it?" He asked, looking back over his shoulder toward Zev's general direction.[break][break]

Zev stifled his own groan of pain. He had landed on his back, too, and hadn't had time to summon his crystals to cushion the impact. "I'm fine," he said tersely.[break][break]

Gazing around, he shot to his feet in case of any other dangers. But the dim light of the subterranean corridor only revealed engravings on the rock walls.[break][break]

The Beast shook his head. He had no idea what the words could mean, but he was not about to admit that to a grunt. "It could mean anything. Can you make a recording? We should bring this to Sato since she's familiar with Unown."[break][break]

Though Naomi Sato had probably already run this simulation dozens of times, knowing her.

CHIMNEY, you can see the destruction taking place. Cities groan as earthquakes raze buildings. Flames burn through forests and fields.[break][break]

Farhan, a Kindler, stands before you. He seems to be protecting the volcano's mouth for whatever reason. As a bead of sweat rolls down his cheek, the man says: "do you come in peace, or to violate this sacred mountain?"[break][break]

He waits, pokeballs in hand. His gaze rests on a peculiar device you have hauled up here. It looks like a bomb of some kind.

The world shifted and changed once more, what was once a ruin was now a view of devastation. Flames were scorching the land as the earth groaned and split; conflict raged on down below as well. Kaname could see the people clashing down below, they looked like ants from this high up.[break][break]

It was the voice of another man that pulled his focus away from the conflict and devastation occuring on the lands below. He did not recognize the man, but based on his line of questioning, Kaname had to guess that he was some sort of guardian or protector of wherever they were.[break][break]

The scientist did not immediately answer the man, instead he looked toward Zev. He was curious to see how the Beast would choose to handle this potential threat and equally ready to back the man up to the best of his meek ability if he chose to pick a fight with the Kindler.

The familiar landscape of Mt. Chimney revealed itself. Zev had walked the edge of the caldera before, felt its oppressive heat. At once, his body broke out into a full sweat under his suit. Droplets rolled down his face as if he were really at the volcano's mouth.[break][break]

A quick scan of the area showed the region plunged into chaos and war. In the distance, an earthquake tore through Mauville City.[break][break]

Team Rocket's takeover of Hoenn, Zev surmised as he glanced down at the bomb.[break][break]

Raising his gaze to meet the stranger's, he plucked two Pokéballs from his belt. With a roll of his wrists, he released their contents: his Gengar and his Hatterene. He did not need more to deal with this man.[break][break]

Zev spoke with a snarl. "This place is now Team Rocket's. Stand down or die."[break][break]

There was a reason Zev was one of Rocket’s Beasts, his skill at battling and violence was second to none. Kaname, however, did what was best and got out of Zev’s way as he battled Farhan and the two other Kindlers. The battle itself was violent and ended with the death of the Kindlers and Farhan. [break][break]

“A shame we didn’t get to question him, but it is what it is.” Kaname spoke up, returning to Zev’s side and helping him push the strange device into the volcano. The resulting explosion as the bomb hit the magma was shocking, and even worse were the earthquakes that followed.[break][break]

“We need to look for a way out, now!”

The battle was quick and brutal. Zev's familiarity with the scenario, and with killing the Kindlers and their Pokémon, allowed him to end the fight with efficiency.[break][break]

"We'll knock them out next time," he said to Kaname as they pushed the bomb into the volcano.[break][break]

As soon as the massive contraption began its descent, Zev's Gengar brought them all down the side of Mt. Chimney with PHANTOM FORCE.[break][break]

But then the scene around them cracked and crumbled, revealing a new location.
